DIY Paper Pennant Banner

Materials:
  • Scrapbooking paper
  • Ribbon
  • Crafting Scissors
  • Stencil
  • Paper Cutter (unless of course you can cut straight lines!)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Pen or Pencil
  • Ruler

My cousin, Liz, is having her first baby this upcoming May! YAY! I am so excited to be taking her maternity photos on Easter!!! I decided I wanted to hand make one of the props we can use in both her maternity photo session, as well as her newborn photo session I will be doing! I opted for a cute, fun paper pennant banner!

Their son's name is Frank, but they will be calling him Gus!
How cute is that for a baby name?! Baby Gus!

I fell in love with this lettering! I decided it would be perfect to use to outline the letters!

So this process was super simple! I did some quick, easy measurements to decide how big I wanted to make the pennant. I used the block letters as a guide, to see how much room I would be left with. I didn't want to make the pennants HUGE, but big enough.

This paper cutter is affordable and works wonders!

This is my sample pennant I made as a guide. I lined it up with the scrapbook paper and then a quick, three cuts later: BAM! You've got yourself a paper pennant!

All I needed was a paper clip! Haha!

I really loved the way these patterns worked with one another. I stood in Micheal's for about 2 seconds before they both just jumped out at me!

The outlining was super easy, and my one recommendation with this is that you buy yourself a good, reliable pair of crafting scissors! You definitely get better results!

After that, I used my mini hot glue gun to attach the pennants to the ribbon.
Ta-da!

Funny thing is, I realized I didn't have anywhere left in the apartment really with a lot of empty wall space. When I went to take these pictures, it was too late to take them outside and I had to clear room behind Adam's desk to just hang these to show you how they came out! Good thing I've done a great job at keeping the walls decorated!

5 Free Apps You Need to Download TONIGHT!

#1. Adobe Photoshop Express
Four words: Crop, Exposure, Rotate, Flip

#2. Walgreens
If you take or even anticipate ever having to buy/use prescriptions for you or a loved one, plan on shopping at Walgreens ever and want to save money, or ever want to print the images you take with your phone: you need this app! It may not be an "every day" app, but those times when it will be most convenient to you, it will change the way you view accessibility and technology!

#3. iHeart Radio
Pandora, but better! I've found it has a better understanding of what I really want to listen to when I create a specific station (i.e. when I create a "Party Rock Anthem" station, I probably don't want to hear Alanis Morissette's "Ironic")

#4. Temple Run
It can be a game you can consume yourself with to the level of entertainment, but you don't have to constantly check back to it with numerous notifications (and chances are you won't spend hours on it sucking up your battery life). Oh, and it's always funny to see how many different ways you can die.

#5. KTB Buddy
Ever feel so stressed at someone you've considered screaming at them/throwing a flower pot in their general vicinity? Yeah, join the club. Or maybe not (perhaps there may be a residing anger management issue there). But nonetheless, this will give you some creative ways to exercise your anger in a metaphorical way! Clue: think voodoo doll! ;)

Well, there you have it! Five apps chances are you didn't consider! Hope this was helpful!

Spring Time is Here!

Spring time is here! The birds are chirping, the trees are budding, and the sun is shining!
It was a whopping 82 degrees here in Boston yesterday! Holy cow!
Enjoy this bright color palette on this beautiful morning!
I will be spending my morning sitting on the patio drinking some tea,
and then walking around Lake Quannapowitt!

Hair Dye Fun!

Well, I let one of our best friends go to town on my hair! We bleached it (which was hilarious, and you should check it out in my later earlier post). Michelle bleached my hair twice through and then used Manic Panic on my locks. It's definitely not what I imagined, or what we planned, but as it turns out it's actually quite adorable! I'll be rocking this look for the early spring time, and then probably go back to black once my roots come back in!

Color is Beautiful

One of the reasons I am so excited when Adam and I buy a house some day, is how we can decorate ALL of the rooms however we want! I took a lot of crap for painting the walls in the bathroom red (see that post here) but, we LOVE the idea of having different colored and decorated rooms! Eclectic, unique pieces of furniture. One-of-a-kind prints and illustrations from Etsy. My very own hand-crafted items to display in each of the rooms. Hell, Adam is probably the most excited about painting the door of our home "tardis" blue!

In honor of our excitement for the (far) future of decorating a home to call our own, here are some color palettes I have crafted from miscellaneous images I found via Pinterest!

Check out this sneak peek! More to come later on!
Please feel free to use these help you in whatever way you can!
